Even more great things our customers say about us

You may not have heard of us yet, but, our customers are definitely talking about us!

What we say about ourselves

A little bit about who we are and why we love what we do.

work
  • Heating

We can repair or replace any heating system you may have. We service and install Heat Pumps, Gas Furnaces and Geothermal/Water source Heat Pumps.

  • Cooling

We know your cooling system is important especially in the Georgia summer heat. We can repair most systems that other companies are pushing you to replace. In some cases the cost of repairs may exceed the benefits of a new high efficiency system. The industry standard minimum SEER rating is now 14 SEER here in the Southeast US. Replacing an old system with a 17 SEER or better can give you a return on your investment in as little as 5-8 years and the parts warranty is minimum 10 years on most new equipment. We install only AHRI certified and matched equipment that qualifies for all of the rebates and federal tax breaks.

Why should I choose Kovack Mechanical?

We are a local, family owned company that puts our customers, and our community, first. By sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 206 and being a member of the Leaders of Lanier, we’re investing in the future of our neighbors.

How often should I replace my filters?

You should change your filters at least every 3 months. If you live with pets in the home, you should check them more often to see if they need to be changed. There are some exceptions with media filters and air cleaners. Feel free to call us for an inspection!

I'm not in your area, but, I've heard great things about you- will you provide out-of-area service as well?

Yes- We’ll be happy to include new customers as long as they’re not too far away. Please call us for more information. We’d love to hear from you!

Is this going to be expensive?

To many customers delight, most common repairs are actually relatively inexpensive. Sometimes, though, the job requires more; for those big things we offer financing options to help you stay on budget, no matter the work required.

What regular maintenance do heating and air conditioning systems need?

Filter changes are very important. Filter neglect can snowball into bigger, more expensive problems that could have easily been prevented by changing your filters.

What areas do you service?

We cover a 30 mile radius of Winder for demand service but we make exceptions depending on the situation. This area includes, but, is not limited to: Winder, Gainesville, Commerce, Danielsville, Athens, Watkinsville, Madison, Covington, Conyers, Snellville, Monroe, Social Circle, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Buford, Oakwood, Jefferson, and Braselton. This area also includes Loganville, Auburn, Statham, Bogart, Ashland, Gratis, Jersey, North High Shoals, Bostwick, Apalachee, Rutledge, Winterville, Hill, Colbert, Planter, Nicholson, Arcade, and more! If you don’t see your town listed, please call us! We’re happy to include you!

Why do I need to change my filter regularly?

Failure to maintain your filter can cause the evaporator coil to freeze up and cause water damage or compressor failure. Even worse is that you can also cause cracks in your furnace heat exchanger, which can potentially leak dangerous carbon monoxide into your home.

Is there anything I should check prior to calling for service?

If you notice that the system isn’t performing as it should, we recommend that you check your breakers to see if it’s off unintentionally. You should also check your filter for excess dirt/debris that will cause problems with your system. At the time of the appointment, you can save some time by making sure that your system is turned off.

How do I know if my system is working properly?

Every system performs differently, but, much like your car, you’ll know when things don’t quite feels the same. If your system is turning on too much and your electric bills are higher, or things are too humid; if you feel there is a problem, let us know and we can come out and do an inspection.

Can you just add freon to my system without repairing any leaks you find?

It is not advisable for you to have any refills performed without the corresponding repairs because it will leak out and cause damage to the environment. For this reason, EPA regulations require all leaks to be repaired.

Are there advantages to a programmable thermostat?

There can be many advantages to using a newer programmable thermostat. By learning how you use your home, these thermostats help to lower energy costs and some are even controllable from your phone or computer. As an added bonus, some electronic companies even give rebates on them.
